Nan Netherton was an historian and author whose several dozen books document the history of Northern Virginia from the broad level – In the Path of History: Virginia between the Rappahannock and the Potomac: an Historical Portrait – to the specificity of historic communities and buildings. The collection contains manuscripts, photographs and illustrations, and research materials Netherton used for her 1990 book Reston: New Town in the Old Dominion. Collection comprises 12 linear ft.; 6 boxes.

Description
An account of the resource
Patrick Kane was a consultant, educator, advisor, and activist addressing planning and community needs in Reston, Virginia. He had been associated with Reston since 1966, when he moved there and opened his own planning firm, KRS Associates. He later created the Corporation for Community Development a planning organization which worked on a number of planning projects, particularly, a renewal of Reston's Lake Anne Village. He served on the Reston Community Association, the Dulles Corridor Task Force, and was the first president of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce. The Patrick Kane papers include items related to Patrick Kane's community related service activities and his professional life. The papers include correspondence, Reston materials, and articles from various publications, and materials pertaining to the Dulles Corridor Task Force. The collection spans the years 1967 to 2002.
